Compliance Deadlines
Stage 1: All New Homes - 1 Jan 2017
Stage 2: All Rentals - 1 Jan 2022
Stage 3: All Existing Homes - 1 Jan 2027

COMPLIANT ALARMS

1. Type
Photoelectric ONLY
Ionization alarms do NOT comply with the legislation, even when combined with a photoelectric in a dual sensor alarm.
2. Number/Location
In all Bedrooms, Exits and Levels
Photoelectrics must be In every bedroom, in all exit paths and on each level.
3. Connectivity
All Alarms Must Be Interconnected
Connectivity by cable (hard-wired) or WiFi (battery), so when one alarm goes off, all others do too.
4. Power Supply
Hard Wired or Battery
a) If existing alarms are hard-wired, new alarms must also be hard-wired, or
b) If existing alarms are battery-powered, new alarms must have a 10-year, sealed battery & be interconnected by WiFi or they can be hard-wired.
